Dr. Jacob Gottlieb and Investments with Altium Capital

A most successful financial entrepreneur, Jacob Gottlieb, MD, CFA, PRMIA, has added to his accomplishments Altium Capital, a healthcare-oriented investment fund. Gottlieb has chosen New York-based Altium because it offers significant advances in medical and health treatments. For instance, Altium first invested in Oramed, a pharmaceutical company that has developed an oral insulin capsule for patients with diabetes that acts as an alternative to injectable drugs. Altium Capital has also invested in Oragenics, an international biotechnological company that specializes in the manufacture of rapid diagnostics tests designed for decentralized laboratories. Founded by two physicians in 1996, Oragenics focuses on becoming a leading company in novel antibiotics designed for conquering infectious diseases. It also has as its focus treatments in which harmful bacteria are replaced by beneficial bacteria. By conducting such replacement therapy, the body heals itself. A further investment of Altium’s is in Amarin, a pharmaceutical company whose innovative and strikingly new product developments have produced drugs to improve cardiovascular health. This company also offers Permex, a therapy for Parkinson’s disease, and it distributes pain management and neurology products.

Over the years, the incredibly successful and respected veteran investor Dr. Gottlieb has gained recognition in the financial world for his skill in recognizing growth opportunities in the industry of healthcare. In earlier years, he was an investment portfolio manager at Merlin in New York City and a founding member at Balyasny Asset Management, L.P. He later founded Visium Asset Management, a healthcare hedge fund. With headquarters in New York City, San Francisco and London, Visium has grown into an eight billion dollar fund. Having a MD from New York Medical School and a BA in Economics from Brown University, Jacob Gottlieb is always expanding his ventures. Presently, Altium’s offices for Gottlieb are alongside Iguana Healthcare Partners and Bay City Capital. And, this proximity of three powerful industries suggests new opportunities for the healthcare investment industry.
